Laguna Beach, California
Day 5 - August 5th 2008
Tuesday August 5th 2008
This morning at 1am, we arrived at The Sea Castle at Laguna Beach, CA. We had driven from the Grand Canyon, took a wrong turn in LA and ended up paying a taxi driver to show us the way to the Sea Castle! Rob hopped in the taxi and I followed them in the hire car. Driving through LA is an experience. I’ve never driven so fast in my whole life.
The amazing paradise in which we are staying is The Sea Castle. (See the giant two houses in the photo above - that’s the Sea Castle.) It is incredibly stunning and is owned by a couple from my church who are Christian Science practitioner (people who heal through prayer.) The Sea Castle is AMAZING. It is perched on top of a hill, right on Laguna Beach. We are staying in the guest cottage overlooking the ocean and they have their own private beach. This morning we made our way downtown to Laguna Beach and had breakfast at Greetings Cafe on the beach itself. Then we had a walk around the shops. I didn’t think I’d be very interested in them, but the art work is INCREDIBLE. Check out www.sticks.com. I’d love a whole HOUSE full of their furniture! The whole beach is bustling with art, new ideas, creativity and bigness. My big thing today is God. I just want to know God. I have this huge hungering and have realised that I need to put the time aside every day to do that! Everything about this place speaks about Life to me - the newness, the abundance, the creativity, the freshness. Rob has gone mad shopping - he can’t believe you can buy such funky stuff so cheap! He’s now writing out on the balcony. We went for a swim at the beach, the sand was incredibly HOT but the water was gorgeous. It’s summer!
Rob and I have decided after driving 3000, yes, that’s three thousand kilometres in three days, we are just going to hang out at Laguna Beach until Saturday. The whole Disney thing has lost its appeal, almost overnight. It’s just so wonderful to be at the beach and to be quiet, oh, and out of the car!
